A Welcome Message from Mayor Richard Howorth

Welcome to the Oxford Presidential Debate web page. Complete information about the debate may be found at the University of Mississippi website, as the debate is taking place on campus and the University is the official host.

The City of Oxford welcomes everyone coming to the debate on campus as well as anyone interested in the debate, the City of Oxford, or the University. We are thrilled about the debate – the first ever to be in Mississippi – and anxiously anticipate the opportunity for people to get to know and enjoy our community.

Our community debate steering committee is working hard to prepare us to be the sort of host city that Oxford residents expect us to be – excellent, in other words. The committee has planned community involvement and events, and initiated local school activities leading up to the debate.

The board of aldermen and I commend Chancellor Khayat and the University of Mississippi administration, faculty, and students for making it possible for all of us here to participate in a bit of American history.

Please let me know if we can help you. With best wishes,

Sincerely,
Richard Howorth
