The Solid Waste Department collects residential garbage and provides commercial dumpster service within the city The city is divided into two collection zones to improve solid waste services for our residential customers. Collection schedules are listed below.

CITY OF OXFORD RESIDENTIAL GARBAGE COLLECTION

City of Oxford residents who live north of Jackson Avenue, north of Hwy 6 West and the Rivers Hill area, garbage will be collected on Monday and Thursday.

City of Oxford residents who live south of Jackson Avenue and south of Hwy 6 West, garbage will be collected on Tuesday and Friday.

City of Oxford Code of Ordinances Section 12-19 states that all garbage cans be placed at the designated collection area or street curb no sooner than 24 hours before the regular time of collection, and all garbage cans or containers must be removed from the front yard no later than 24 hours after collection. It is unlawful for garbage cans to remain at the curb outside of these hours. Violation of this ordinance may be punishable by a fine. All apartment complexes using dumpsters will not be affected.

Garbage is considered to be any waste generated from inside the home.


CITY OF OXFORD RESIDENTIAL RUBBISH COLLECTION

City of Oxford residents who live north of Jackson Avenue, north of Hwy 6 West and the Rivers Hill area, rubbish will be collected on Monday or Wednesday.

City of Oxford residents who live south of Jackson Avenue and south of Hwy 6 West, rubbish will be collected on Tuesday or Thursday.

The City of Oxford Solid Waste Department garbage collection routes are not picked up on the following holidays. Please refer to the City of Oxford web site (www.oxfordms.net), the Oxford Eagle or call the Solid Waste Dept. (232-2359) for changes in pick up days due to these holidays.

Rubbish consists of the following items:

  • Appliances

  • Bricks and small sections of concrete

  • Furniture

  • Grass clippings

  • Lumber

  • Mattresses

  • Metal items

  • Rugs and small carpet sections

  • Tree branches
